We are proud have hosted an immersive Virtual Reality workshop in collaboration with the Carnegie Mellon University Master of Medical Management for Physicians (MMM) Saturday, September 14th at Carnegie Mellon’s main campus in Pittsburgh, PA.
The MMM program is an 18-month cohort-based program designed to equip physicians with the tools needed to manage and grow their healthcare organizations.
Our CEO, Whitney A. White, and Chief Medical Officer, Aubrey J. Grant M.D. FACC, facilitated this hands-on workshop for a highly engaged group of healthcare providers, administrators, and faculty. After diving into one of Equity Commons’ immersive Virtual Reality modules, participants reflected on the experience and drew connections to their day-to-day work. After thoughtful reflections and robust group discussions, Equity Commons shared best practices to advance high-quality care for all patients. Participants also discussed challenges healthcare professionals face and the crucial need to foster empathy across all facets of their organizations.
This type of immersive Virtual Reality training is profoundly important for healthcare professionals. In the complex and diverse landscape of modern healthcare, the ability to understand and connect with patients from all backgrounds is paramount. Fostering empathy helps healthcare providers better comprehend patient experiences, improve communication, and deliver more compassionate care. By actively engaging in discussions and sharing best practices, participants are better equipped to implement these principles within their own organizations, ultimately improving patient outcomes and fostering a more effective healthcare system.
We commend Carnegie Mellon University for prioritizing empathy as a part of the Master of Medical Management for Physicians curriculum! We had a great time at CMU and are thankful for the physicians who participated in the workshop. Let’s continue to work together to improve healthcare for all patients!
