We are thrilled to share a recap of our CEO, Whitney A. White’s, impactful session at The Dean’s Roundtable Annual Conference, which took place from June 24th to June 27th in Marlborough, MA.
The Dean’s Roundtable Annual Conference serves as a vital space for education professionals, providing a dedicated opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate on innovative approaches to address challenges throughout the education system.
During her session, “The Power of Virtual Reality to Foster Empathy & Reduce Bias,” Whitney captivated participants with a 2D simulation of one of our immersive Virtual Reality modules. Following the experience, Whitney facilitated a dynamic group discussion, focusing on the application of best practices and how attendees could integrate the insights gained back into their respective communities.
This session underscored the critical importance of educators developing their skills around empathy. In today’s diverse classrooms, an educator’s ability to understand and share the feelings of their students is paramount. Empathy not only fosters a more inclusive and supportive learning environment but also equips educators to better address the unique needs and challenges faced by each student. By cultivating empathy, teachers can build stronger relationships, reduce instances of bias, and ultimately create a more equitable and effective educational experience for all.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Bridget Johnson, Founder of The Dean’s Roundtable, for hosting such an amazing conference and for inviting Equity Commons to present. The event was a resounding success, and we were honored to contribute to such a valuable gathering of education professionals.
